A Special PMLA Court in Ranchi has framed charges under Section 3 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in an alleged money-laundering case linked to 8.86 acres of land in the Bargain area. Mr. Soren appeared before the court through video conference. With the framing of charges, the trial proceedings will now move forward, with the Special Court scheduling further hearings from November.
Earlier in the day, the Jharkhand High Court refused to stay the framing of charges against Jharkhand Chief Minister by the special PMLA court in Ranchi in the money laundering case and directed the Enforcement Directorate to file a supplementary affidavit by 20th of October, with the next court hearing listed for 28th of October.
