IMD issues Orange Alert for Thiruvananthapuram as Heavy Rains Lash District

As pre-monsoon rains persist across Keralam, the India Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for the Thiruvananthapuram district today as heavy rains lashed many parts of the district.

Waterlogging and traffic disruptions have been reported from several areas, affecting the movement of vehicles and pedestrians. The IMD has also issued a Yellow Alert for seven districts today and six districts tomorrow, forecasting isolated heavy rainfall. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts until June 3 due to adverse weather conditions. According to the IMD, atmospheric conditions are becoming increasingly favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance into parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu within the next four to five days.
