South Korea: 5 killed, 2 injured in Aerospace factory blast

In South Korea, five people were killed and two others injured in an explosion at a Hanwha Aerospace factory in the central city of Daejeon today. According to the state-run Yonhap News Agency, a fire broke out at the facility this morning. Among the two injured workers, one suffered severe burns over most of the body, while the other sustained minor injuries.
Authorities believe the blast occurred during cleaning operations involving explosive materials. The factory is involved in the development of large propulsion engines and tactical surface-to-surface weapon systems. President Lee Jae Myung has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and directed government agencies to mobilise all available resources for rescue and emergency response operations.
Meanwhile, Hanwha Group has apologised for the accident and pledged full cooperation with authorities in a comprehensive probe to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
