South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Ugandan Vice President Jessica Alupo have arrived in New Delhi to attend the 18th BRICS Summit, which begins tomorrow. Union Minister Jayant Singh received the two leaders at the airport.

 

The Ministry of External Affairs said, India and South Africa share warm and historic ties, anchored in a Strategic Partnership. It added that the two countries remain firmly committed, as BRICS partners, to advancing the interests and aspirations of the Global South.

 

On India-Uganda relations, the Ministry said, the two countries share warm and friendly ties rooted in a shared history, with a growing partnership in both bilateral and multilateral spheres.

 

Meanwhile, Nigerian Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and Uruguayan Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin have also arrived in the national capital to attend the summit. Mr. Lubetkin will represent the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) at the BRICS Summit.
