The Office of the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer today stated that Draft Electoral Roll published on 31st of last month has been prepared on the basis of the prescribed procedure and verification process. Delhi CEO today issued a clarification regarding media report claiming that nearly 40 percent names added before the 2025 assembly polls are missing in SIR draft in constituency where AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal lost by a thin margin. It clarified in its statement that non-inclusion of a name in the Draft Electoral Roll does not, by itself, constitute a final determination of ineligibility. It said the mere comparison of additions in one revision period with non-inclusion in a subsequent Draft Electoral Roll cannot, by itself, establish that a deletion or non-inclusion is erroneous and malafide. It added that each case is required to be examined on the basis of the applicable eligibility conditions, field verification, documents and prescribed procedure. Delhi CEO also clarified that the electoral roll is a continuously updated statutory record. It said changes may occur on account of factors such as shifting of residence, death, duplicate enrolment, non-fulfilment of eligibility conditions or other grounds prescribed under law.
