Government of Sikkim is closely monitoring the situation arising out of the recent flash floods in Nepal and has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of Sikkim residents stranded due to the prevailing situation.
Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang spoke with eight residents from Sikkim over the phone. During the interaction, it was informed that all eight were at Saga County on the Tibet side and reported to be safe.
The Sikkim Government constituted the Nepal Flash Flood Task Force yesterday to ensure effective coordination and timely assistance to Sikkim residents who are stranded.
The Task Force has been entrusted with the overall coordination, monitoring and facilitation of necessary assistance to Sikkim citizens affected by the situation.
The Task Force is maintaining regular coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, and is also in continuous touch with the concerned Sikkim residents and their families.
