The severe heatwave that has affected Punjab, Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh for the last over a week has finally relented today. Overcast morning sky with mild breeze and early drizzle brought the temperatures down.
The Chandigarh based India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange alerts across both the states of thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds along with heatwave at isolated places for today. From tomorrow, there is an alert of heavy rain along with the same weather conditions at many places in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh till Saturday.
The Met Department has also issued a Red Alert of heavy rain with hailstorm in Chandigarh and at Pathankot, Roopnagar, Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab. Red alert of similar weather conditions has been issued for Punchkula, Ambala and YamunaNagar in Haryana as well.
