Himachal Pradesh: Seven lost life in road accident in Chamba district

In a horrific road accident last night in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, seven people lost their lives. All the deceased were residents of the same village, including three real brothers and a married couple. The victims comprised four men and three women.

The accident occurred near Mani Zero on the Pukhri-Masroond road in the Churah Assembly area when a Bolero vehicle went out of control and plunged nearly 500 meters into a deep gorge. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was completely mangled, and all seven occupants died on the spot.

According to reports, all the victims, residents of Mahal village under Panchayat Kuthed, were returning home late at night after attending an event in Kakdotha village when the accident occurred.

Police said the accident took place around 2 a.m. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then veered off the road and fell into the gorge.

Local residents rushed to the spot and began rescue operations, but the darkness and steep terrain made the task extremely difficult. Later, with the help of police and locals, all bodies were retrieved from the gorge.

Chamba Superintendent of Police Vijay Saklani confirmed the incident, stating that all the victims belonged to the same village and an investigation is underway. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem to a Government Medical College, Chamba.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the accident was caused due to loss of control of the vehicle. However, police are examining all possible angles.
