In Jammu and Kashmir, the self-enumeration phase of the House Listing and Housing Census concluded today, with the main field exercise set to begin tomorrow. The enumerators and supervisors will undertake door-to-door visits across the Union Territory from tomorrow till the 30th of June to collect detailed information related to housing and population.
The authorities have appealed to residents to cooperate fully with the field teams to ensure smooth, accurate and timely collection of data. Officials said the information gathered during the census will provide an updated demographic profile of the Union Territory.
The Census exercise is expected to help the government in evidence-based planning, effective implementation of welfare schemes and strengthening governance mechanisms.
It will also support policy formulation and resource allocation in line with the changing needs of the population. The administration has made necessary arrangements for the field operation and emphasised the importance of public participation in making the Census exercise successful.
