Security intensifies on J&K Highways; AI-Based Systems and Drones deployed after Patnitop encounters

In view of recent encounters with terrorists, security arrangements have been intensified on the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway (NH-244) and the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in the upper reaches of Doda, Ramban, and Udhampur districts in Jammu and Kashmir. Artificial intelligence (AI)-based facial recognition systems, drones, and CCTVs are also being used to monitor anti-social elements. Following the encounters in the higher reaches of Patnitop, stringent security arrangements have been put in place in the region.

Security forces have set up checkpoints on both highways and other link roads to conduct random checks and frisk suspected persons around the clock to thwart any untoward incidents. Security has also been beefed up at various important locations by deploying adequate security forces and police personnel, including at the entry and exit points of all important towns. Night patrolling has been intensified across the region, and Village Defence Guards (VDGs) are patrolling the interior villages.

All security agencies are on high alert, and senior Army and police officers are regularly monitoring the situation. Meanwhile, cordon and search operations (CASOs) have been intensified in and around Patnitop, Sanasar, Assar, Batote, Kud, and Chenani.
