In Manipur, the security forces have been conducting joint operations and have killed an armed cadre of the United Kuki National Army during the operation.
According to a press release issued by PRO IG Assam Rifles (South), a joint operation by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles was conducted on 16 June in Henglep Sub-Division of Churachandpur district in Manipur, acting on precise intelligence regarding the movement of United Kuki National Army (UKNA) cadres. The operation was executed in treacherous terrain and inclement weather conditions and a firefight ensued when the troops approached the hideout, resulting in neutralisation of one insurgent while others escaped, it said.
Further, the press release said that subsequent combing operation led to destruction of fortified bunkers and recovery of a sizeable cache of arms, ammunition and warlike stores. By dismantling the infrastructure of insurgents, security forces reinforced their commitment towards restoring peace and normalcy in the State.
