The second meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, is currently underway at Parliament Annexe in New Delhi. The officials from the Ministries of Home Affairs and Law and Justice are expected to brief members on various provisions of the proposed legislation. The panel will also hear the views of domain experts and stakeholders, including State Bank of India Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty and Additional Solicitor General of India for the Delhi High Court Chetan Sharma. The committee has been tasked with examining the provisions of the Bill and submitting its report to Parliament by the last day of the first week of the Winter Session 2026.
The Committee comprises 21 members from the Lok Sabha, nominated by the Speaker, and 10 members from the Rajya Sabha, chaired by Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Jaiswal. The Bill seeks to amend the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, with the objective of making the use of foreign contributions more transparent and accountable.
