The Ministry of Communication today informed that its Sanchar Saathi portal has crossed 30 crore visits since its inception in May 2023. Developed by the Ministry’s Department of Telecommunications, the portal enables users to report suspicious calls or messages with its user-friendly interface. The portal also enables users to know how many mobile connections are running in their name and subsequently block a lost or stolen handset. It also helps users to know whether the handset is genuine or not.
The Ministry underlined that over 14 lakh lost and stolen handsets recovered and more than 4 crore citizen requests on knowing mobile connections in their name were resolved. It also noted that citizens who use Sanchar Saathi Portal to complain against fraudsters act like a Cyber Warrior. The Ministry said, suspected cyber-fraud losses of more than five thousand crore rupees were prevented through the Financial Fraud Risk Indicator.
