Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has asserted that non-violence and peace is India’s culture and no one should make the mistake of considering this value of non-violence as its weakness. 

 

Mr Singh said that safeguarding the country’s security, sovereignty, and honour is the foremost duty of the government. 

 

Mr Singh was speaking at a function in New Delhi. Mr Singh also said that the Jain religion is the pride of India’s civilisation and culture and the Narendra Modi government has given priority to the preservation and promotion of the Jain traditions and heritage. 

 

He said, in the past few years, more than 20 revered Tirthankara idols that were stolen at some point in time have been brought back to India from foreign countries.
