Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that robotics is set to become an important tool across medical specialties, covering diagnostics, treatment and therapy. Addressing the International Conference of the Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS) in New Delhi today, Dr Singh said Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Nanoscience will create an ecosystem for precision and personalised healthcare. Dr Singh said the future could see the emergence of Robotic Medicine, Robotic Endocrinology and Robotic Cardiology, just as AI is finding applications across different medical specialities. Referring to the Genome India Programme, the minister said ten thousand individuals have already been sequenced and expressed hope for gene sequencing of every newborn in the future. He said AI, Robotics and Tele-Robotics can help deliver specialist healthcare across geographical boundaries.
The minister said the scale and diversity of India’s healthcare requirements make the adoption of new technologies particularly important. He added that AI and robotics can serve as powerful facilitatory tools for health delivery across the country, while also supporting the transition towards precision and personalised medicine. Dr Singh congratulated the organisers of SRS India 2026 for bringing robotic surgery into the domain of institutional learning, academics and professional conference platforms.
