Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari today noted that the government has identified accident-prone black spots and landslide-prone stretches across the country and has undertaken improvement works with a cost of 50 thousand crore rupees.
Addressing an event on Road Safety in New Delhi, Mr Gadkari stated that efforts are also being made to ensure international-standard road engineering, including proper signage, lane markings and underpasses. The Minister also called greater public participation in promoting road safety. Mr Gadkari also urged motorists to follow traffic rules, avoid overspeeding, wear helmets and seat belts, maintain lane discipline, and refrain from using mobile phones while driving.
