Rescue and relief activities gain pace following respite from heavy rain across Telangana

In Telangana, rescue and relief activities gained pace following respite from heavy rains across the state. However, flood situation is still grim in several districts as River Godavari is flowing above the third danger mark 53 feet at Bhadrachalam. Several villages inundated and flooded forcing about 19 thousand people to take shelter in relief camps in various districts. Hundreds of villages remained marooned.

Ten NDRF teams are working hard in various districts providing relief and undertaking rescue activities while two teams each are in Nirmal and Kothagudem districts while one team each are undertaking relief activities in Mulugu, Warangal, Khammam, Bhupalapally and Hyderabad districts. State Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari directed the district officials to continue intense relief activities for another 24 hours in the rain-affected districts.
