Renewable energy increased from over 76 gigawatts to over 288 gigawatts in last decade: Govt in RS

Minister of State for Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik has said that renewable energy installed capacity in the country has increased from over 76 Giga Watt in 2014 to over 288 Giga Watt as on 30th of June this year. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, Mr Naik said the installed capacity of Solar power is over 162 gigawatts, Wind power is around 58 gigawatts, Hydro power is 57 gigawatts, and Bio Power is over 11 gigawatts. He said, since financial year 2013-14 till financial year 2025-26, renewable energy sector in the country has attracted Foreign Direct Investment FDI of around 46 Billion dollars. The Minister said, during the period, domestic financial institutions including 12 Public sector banks, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited, Power Finance Corporation Limited, REC, India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited, National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development and Small Industries Development Bank of India have deployed over 12 lakh crore rupees towards renewable energy sector.
