Rain and thunderstorms to lash J&K over next few days

In Jammu and Kashmir, the MeT Department has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers across many parts of the Union Territory over the next few days, with the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places that may trigger flash floods and landslides.

The weather department said one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at many places from today till tomorrow, mainly during late afternoon, evening, and late night or early morning hours. Heavy rainfall or brief intense showers accompanied by thunderstorms may occur at a few locations.

From the 6th to 9th of July, the weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid, although several places may continue to witness brief spells of light to moderate rain and isolated intense showers.

The MeT Department has advised people to stay away from nallahs, streams, and landslide-prone areas, warning that heavy rain at vulnerable locations could lead to flash floods and landslides.
