Railways takes swift action on passenger complaint over Vande Bharat catering

Indian Railways has demonstrated its prompt grievance-redressal mechanism by taking swift action on a passenger complaint, regarding the onboard catering services. A passenger travelling on Banaras-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express raised a complaint on social media on the 16th of this month, tagging Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over the quality of food served onboard.

The matter was not confined to immediate onboard redressal, IRCTC also imposed a penalty of two lakh rupees on the concerned catering licensee. In addition, a penalty of 20 thousand rupees was imposed on the agency responsible for food safety at the base kitchen for negligence. Ministry of Railways said that the action reflects the commitment of Indian Railways to responsive passenger service and firm accountability.
