Railways, Bengaluru civic bodies review solid waste management on railway land

Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna and Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda held a review meeting in Bengaluru today on solid waste management on railway land. The meeting discussed issues related to garbage disposal, dumping of construction debris, and unauthorised dumping of waste on railway premises.

Union Minister V. Somanna called for close coordination between the Railways and the Greater Bengaluru Authority to keep railway land clean in the city. He directed railway officials to identify unauthorised dumping of solid waste and prepare a comprehensive action plan for cleaning them up. He urged all concerned agencies, including the city municipal corporation, BWSSB, BESCOM, and other civic bodies in the state capital, to work together with the Railways under a common coordination mechanism to ensure effective waste management. Mr Somanna also called for strict action and imposition of penalties against those found dumping garbage or debris on railway land.
