Railway Police Chiefs’ Conference Focuses on Passenger Safety

The 8th All India Conference of Government Railway Police Chiefs, organised by the Railway Protection Force, concluded in New Delhi yesterday. The conference discussed emerging security challenges, shared best practices and emphasised stronger coordination among the RPF, GRP and State Police to enhance railway security and passenger safety.

According to the Ministry of Railways, a key highlight was the integration of Government Railway Police personnel with the RailMadad platform by the Centre for Railway Information Systems. The initiative aims to improve passenger grievance redressal, ensure timely information-sharing and strengthen complaint monitoring.

The conference also discussed crowd management measures for Diwali, Chhath and other festivals. Northern Railway’s Delhi Division highlighted coordinated efforts with Delhi Police, GRP and Delhi Metro authorities to manage the festive rush. These measures include CCTV surveillance, public announcements, barricading, designated holding areas and dedicated control rooms.

The Ministry said the conference underscored the importance of advance planning, efficient passenger movement and coordinated deployment of security personnel to ensure safe and orderly travel during peak festive periods.
