Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviews progress of hydrogen train project 

 
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today reviewed the progress of the hydrogen train project and inspected advanced maintenance facilities at the Shakur Basti Depot in Delhi. During his inspection of the Tilak Bridge-Shakur Basti rail section of Northern Railway, the Minister held a review meeting with senior railway officials and assessed the status of various developmental projects in the region.
At Shakur Basti Depot, Mr. Vaishnaw inspected the state-of-the-art Retractable Overhead Equipment system, bogie pit and bogie lifting facilities. He directed officials to further improve operational efficiency at the ground level. The Minister also reviewed the progress of the hydrogen train project, describing it as a significant step towards promoting green technology and making Indian Railways pollution-free in the future. Mr. Vaishnaw also participated in a plantation drive at the depot and planted a sapling on the occasion of World Environment Day. He reiterated Indian Railways’ commitment to environmental conservation and highlighted the organisation’s rapid progress towards 100 per cent electrification, which will contribute to the country’s net-zero carbon emission goals.
The Railway Minister also interacted with maintenance staff and other railway personnel at the depot. He appreciated their efforts, listened to their concerns and directed senior officials to ensure their timely resolution. Later, Mr. Vaishnaw conducted a surprise inspection of Gurugram Railway Station and reviewed the progress of its ongoing redevelopment. The station is being upgraded into a world-class facility at a cost of 300 crore rupees. The Minister also interacted with passengers and sought feedback on railway services, travel experiences and challenges faced during their journeys.
