Rail Accidents Down by 77% Since 2014-15, Says Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that 77 per cent reduction in rail accidents has been witnessed in comparison to 2014-15. In reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today, Mr Vaishnaw said, in 2014 -15 the number of rail accidents was 135, which has now come down to 31 in 2024-25. He said, the government has given utmost priority to passenger and railway safety by introducing new technology like KAVACH, which is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection system.
