Congress star campaigner and senior leader Rahul Gandhi toured Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. He addressed election rallies in Una under the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency and in Nahan in Sirmaur district under the Shimla parliamentary constituency, urging people to vote for Congress candidates.
He promised that if the Congress party comes to power, one lakh rupees would be deposited annually into the accounts of every poor woman. Additionally, legal guarantees for minimum support prices for farmers and 30 lakh jobs in the government sector for the youth would be provided. Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that over the past 10 years, he waived off loans worth 16 lakh crore rupees for 22 individuals, but failed to provide 9,000 crore rupees to cope with last year’s disaster caused by rains in Himachal Pradesh.
He also highlighted that the BJP had promised two crore jobs for the youth, which remains unfulfilled. Furthermore, he accused the BJP government at the center of pushing the future of millions of youths into darkness with the introduction of the Agniveer scheme. Senior Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, were also present during the election rally.
