The sacred city of Puri in Odisha is set to witness one of the most magnificent rituals of the annual Rath Yatra this evening, as Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be adorned in the resplendent Suna Besha, or Golden Attire. Lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad are expected to gather along the Grand Road to behold the celestial splendour of the sibling deities. 

 

The holy city of Puri is immersed in an atmosphere of profound devotion and festivity as the revered Suna Besha, or the Golden Attire, of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be ceremonially observed this evening atop their majestic chariots stationed on the Grand Road. During this time-honoured ritual, the sibling deities will be adorned with around 208 kilograms of traditional ornaments comprising gold and other precious materials, symbolising divine majesty, prosperity and universal benevolence.

 

Elaborate security arrangements and extensive pilgrim facilitation measures have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the occasion, which is expected to draw millions of devotees from across India and abroad. The sacred spectacle remains one of the most celebrated highlights of the annual Rath Yatra festival.
