Punjab to launch Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls today

In Punjab, a month-long Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will be launched today. It will continue till July 24th. Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Anindita Mitra, informed that the final voter list will be published on October 1st, 2026. She said the rationalisation of polling booths would be done till July 24. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 3.

 

Objections and claims can be submitted from August 3 to September 2. The notice period will be from 3 August to 28 September. The CEO informed that 86.02% mapping of voters, which includes 1.84 crore people of Punjab, has already been completed. Mrs Mitra denied media reports that the names of those voters who have not been mapped would be struck off from the voters list. She said name of eligible voters will not be deleted.
