In Punjab the digitisation of enumeration forms during the door-to-door enumeration phase under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 has been completed. Of the total electoral roll, forms of about 1.94 crore voters have been collected and digitised during the 40-day enumeration process which has been ended yesterday, a day before the completion date. This figure marks the completion of the enumeration of 90.37 percent of the total electors in Punjab.
Disclosing this during a press conference, Punjab Chief Electoral Officer, Anandita Mitra said that those 12 Lakh voters who have not been mapped will again be contacted by the electoral staff From August 13th to September 12th. She made it clear names of eligible voters will not be deleted.
Mrs Mitra said that during this SIR process rationalization of polling booths has also been done due to which 879 new booths have been created. Now, the total number of booths have increased to 25, 332 from 24, 453 before the rationalization in the state. She said the next phase of SIR is starting from August 13th. Final list will be published on October 12th.
