Punjab Police have recovered over 80-kilogram Heroin worth crores of rupees from the border districts of Ferozepur and Amritsar from 10 accused in the last five days. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has today recovered a consignment of over 30 Kilogram of Heroin by busting a cross-border narcotics smuggling module at Ferozepur and has apprehended three accused.
This is the second such consignment of over 30-kilogram Heroin which has been confiscated in Punjab. Earlier, on August 8th, Punjab Police in joint operation with BSF has seized the same amount of contraband from two accused in this border district of Ferozepur.
Similarly, on August 7th, five persons were arrested with 21 kilograms of Heroin from a border village in Amritsar.
According to police sources, preliminary investigations reveal that these consignments were sent from across the International Border by foreign-based drug smugglers through Drones which were received by Indian smugglers for further transportation and distribution.
Besides these narcotics, a large number of arms and ammunition and a hand grenade have also been recovered during these days.
