Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh get monsoon relief as temperatures fall

With the early arrival of the monsoon in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, there is a tremendous fall in maximum temperatures, giving much relief to people from heatwave conditions. Late-night and early morning showers in most parts of both the states and the union territory have also brought a sharp decline in electricity demand as well.

With a fall in temperatures, Narnaul in Haryana, with a minimum temperature of 18.0 degrees Celsius recorded this morning, was the coldest town in the region, followed by Bathinda in Punjab at 20.8 degrees Celsius.

Yesterday, Bathinda recorded a maximum of 41.5 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh recorded a minimum of 24.5 degrees Celsius.

The Chandigarh-based Met Department has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain with lightning and thunderstorms at many places in both Punjab and Haryana, as well as in Chandigarh, from today till July 7th.
