In Punjab, the weather normally remained clear throughout the day in most parts with bright sunshine today. It helped different agencies engage in rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas of the State. However, the flood situation in some districts is still grim as hundreds of villages are marooned under flood water. In Sangrur district, hundreds of villages were marooned due to a breach in the Ghaggar River at three places in Makur Sahib, Fullar, and Mandvi areas of Moonak.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reiterated the firm commitment of the State government to duly compensate the people for every single penny of loss incurred by them on account of heavy and incessant rainfall across the State.
He said that all the dams in the State are safe and water is flowing below the danger mark. The regular tab is being kept through district administrations in the entire state regarding the level of water and the relief measures being carried out in these districts, he added further.
In the Ferozpur district, several border villages are reported to be marooned in flood water after a Bundh breached the Pakistan side on the zero line at India-Pakistan International Border.
