Punjab CM postpones talks with state government employees till they end strike

Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann has cancelled his scheduled talks with the government employees till the time they end their strike. In a social media post, he made it clear to the striking employees that talks on their issues will only be held when they end the strike. He said the government is committed to finding a solution to every issue but talks and strikes cannot go simultaneously.

Akashvani Correspondent reports that lakhs of Punjab government employees and pensioners are observing ‘Maha Hartal’ today to press for their long-pending demands including release of dearness allowance (DA) and restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) besides others.

As per reports, Sh. Mann was supposed to meet the employees’ union leaders at Jalandhar today to listen to their demands and grievances.

Soon after the Chief Minister’s post about talks, the employees at Punjab Secretariat Chandigarh, at Jalandhar and at other places intensified their strike and raised slogans against the government and Mr. Mann.

However, normal life has not been disrupted as the employees had not blocked roads and private businesses were running as usual.
