Puducherry Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan today called upon the youth to lead the national movement for a drug-free India, saying that the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 can be realised only through a healthy, empowered and addiction-free young generation.

 

Addressing the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan programme at Pondicherry University, the Lieutenant Governor said the campaign is not merely a government initiative but a people’s movement aimed at protecting the country’s youth from the menace of drug abuse. He urged students to stay away from drugs and become ambassadors of the campaign by spreading awareness among their peers.

 

The programme featured the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launching the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. During the event, the Lieutenant Governor administered the pledge for a drug-free India to the students and other participants.

 

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Chief Secretary Dr. Sharat Chauhan, among others, were present on the occasion.
