The Government of India’s new Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) was launched at the State level in Puducherry today. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy inaugurated the scheme at a function held in Villianur. The new scheme, which came into force across the country yesterday, replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. It guarantees up to 125 days of wage employment annually for every eligible rural household. Wages will be paid through the Direct Benefit Transfer system. In Puducherry, the daily wage has been fixed at 347 rupees.
