Protests were reported from several parts of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, with demonstrators demanding fundamental rights, accountability for reported killings and an end to alleged restrictions on civil liberties. Around 100 people have been killed by Pakistani forces during the ongoing unrest in the occupied territory.
In Sudhanoti, a sit-in protest was held yesterday. Protesters raised slogans and called for the protection of their basic rights, amid growing public concern over the situation in the region.
In Hajira Mandhol, students and residents also took to the streets. Thousands of people participated in the demonstration, demanding their basic rights and urging the authorities to address their grievances.
The protesters also sought accountability for those killed during earlier demonstrations. They said, the sacrifices of those who lost their lives should not be forgotten. The protesters further demanded the withdrawal of Pakistani forces from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Protests were held by the Kashmiri diaspora in several ountries to expose state-sponsored terror by the Pakistani establishment. A demonstration was held outside the Pakistani Embassy in Brussels. United Kashmir People’s National Party leader Sajid Hussain highlighted what he described as the deteriorating human rights situation in the region.
The Kashmiri diaspora in the United Kingdom has continued its protest in solidarity with the people of PoJK, raising concerns over reported violence, civilian deaths, prolonged military and security restrictions, and alleged disruptions to supplies of food and essential medicines.
