Principal Scientific Adviser Professor Ajay K. Sood today emphasised that an interoperable One Health Dashboard reflects not only a whole-of-government effort, but also a whole-of-country approach, providing integrated visibility across sectors and ensuring that health threats are addressed holistically rather than in isolation. He made the remarks while chairing the sixth meeting of the Scientific Steering Committee on One Health in New Delhi. Professor Sood underscored the importance of clear institutional ownership, outcome-oriented targets and consistent follow-up to ensure that the Committee’s recommendations translate into action on the ground.
He also highlighted the importance of building on ongoing programmes, established platforms and existing institutional capacities, rather than creating parallel structures. He said such alignment would improve the flow of information, support coordinated decision-making and enable timely action across the human, animal and environmental health sectors.
Professor Sood urged ministries and departments to maintain collaborative engagement, strengthen follow-up mechanisms and identify areas where greater convergence and support could accelerate implementation. The Committee reviewed progress towards developing an interoperable One Health Dashboard and discussed areas requiring continued inter-sectoral coordination. The Committee also appreciated the efforts of the Health Ministry towards the next phase of the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP).
