Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is a Member of Parliament from Varanasi, today took stock of the flood situation in his constituency. He spoke with Varanasi District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar via telephone to obtain detailed information on the flood situation in Varanasi. He inquired about the river water level as well as the arrangements being made in relief camps.

The Prime Minister directed that flood relief operations be continuously monitored and that immediate relief be provided to those affected. Relief operations should also be conducted while taking into account the special needs of children, women, and the elderly living in flood relief camps.

On the other side, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of the Farrukhabad district. He reviewed the rescue and relief operations and later distributed lease of land and relief material to the affected people.

According to the report of the Relief Commissioner’s Office, 32 districts of the state have been affected by floods so far, while flood impact is currently being recorded in 22 districts. The government has established extensive relief network in flood-affected areas.
