President, Vice President and Prime Minister express grief over demise of renowned Pandvani singer Teejan Bai

President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed grief over the demise of the renowned Pandavani singer Teejan Bai today. In a social media post, President Murmu said that Teejan Bai brought the tales of the Mahabharata to life on stage with her powerful voice, commanding presence, and unique style of presentation.

The President said that Teejan Bai brought recognition to Chhattisgarh’s rich Pandavani tradition both in India and abroad through her exceptional talent, dedication, and years of rigorous practice. She said that her contribution to the dissemination of India’s cultural heritage will remain memorable. In a social media post, The Vice President said that Teejan Bai’s unique voice, powerful performances, and extraordinary artistry, she brought India’s rich folk-cultural traditions, especially the immortal tales of the Mahabharata, to people from all walks of life. Mr Radhakrishnan added that her passing is an irreparable loss to the world of art and culture.
