President Droupadi Murmu unveiled the statue of eminent freedom fighter and social reformer Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das in New Delhi today. Gopabandhu Das actively participated in the freedom movement and was a prominent journalist who founded the Odia Newspaper “The Samaja” in 1919.

 

Talking to Akashvani, Member of Parliament Aparajita Sarangi said Gopabandhu Das is an legendary figure of Odisha. He did a commendable job as a journalist, as a poet and  as a freedom fighter. Indeed he did a marvellous work for the people of Odisha and beyond.
