US President Donald Trump has touted America’s achievements and declared the best is yet to come in a speech marking the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence. The US leader delivered his remarks yesterday as part of celebrations in Washington. President Trump said, for two and a half centuries, the American Republic has stood as the crowning achievement of human history. He emphasized that US military operations overseas have all been successful.
Washington’s daytime high temperature soared to nearly 40 degrees Celsius, prompting organisers to cancel a parade in consideration of possible health risks. The celebratory events were suspended for more than two hours in the evening due to bad weather. The series of events scheduled for Saturday ended with a fireworks show that lasted for 40 minutes and involved setting off an estimated 850,000 fireworks.
The United States declared its independence from Great Britain on 4th of July in 1776. The 250th anniversary is being observed through year-long events across the country.
