President, PM and Home Minister extend greetings on Goa Statehood Day

Goa is celebrating its Statehood Day today, marking the historic occasion when the state was granted full statehood in 1987 and became the 25th state of the Indian Union. The day highlights Goa’s journey from liberation to becoming one of the country’s most prominent states, known for its high standards of human development, quality of life, and vibrant cultural identity.

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan will attend the Statehood Day celebrations at the Kala Academy in Panaji today, underscoring the significance of the occasion in the state’s development journey.

On the occasion, President Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings to the people of Goa. She noted that Goa is renowned not only for its rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality but also for its remarkable progress in education, technology, startups, and sustainable development. The President highlighted that with its commitment to innovation, environmental conservation, and inclusive growth, Goa will play an important role in India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his greetings, describing Goa as a state known for its vibrant culture, rich heritage, natural beauty, and warm-hearted people. He said the occasion is an opportunity to remember all those who contributed to Goa’s progress and identity, and expressed confidence that the state will continue to prosper and contribute significantly to the vision of Viksit Bharat.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his greetings on the occasion. He described Goa as a unique blend of culture and heritage that reflects the essence of Indian hospitality to the world. He added that the state continues to contribute to the nation’s growth and pride and wished for its continued prosperity and development.
