President Droupadi Murmu today said education is the foundation of character building, social transformation and nation-building. Inaugurating the Jagadguru Kripalu University at Cuttack in Odisha, she called upon universities to nurture ethical, skilled and socially responsible citizens. The President said educational institutions will play a decisive role in achieving the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Viksit Odisha 2036.
The President is on a three-day visit to her home state Odisha from today. She inaugurated the Jagadguru Kripalu University at Cuttack this evening. Speaking on the occasion, the President said education is not merely a means of acquiring knowledge but the foundation for character building, social transformation and nation-building. She said universities must create an environment that enables young people to realise their potential through value-based education, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and skill development. The President urged the university to give priority to the education of girls, tribal students and other disadvantaged sections. She said universities must produce ethical leaders, employment creators and responsible citizens committed to national development.
