President Droupadi Murmu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, HM Amit Shah pay tributes on Hul Divas

On the occasion of Hul Divas, President Droupadi Murmu has paid tribute to the immortal heroic men and women of the Sido-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, Phulo-Jhano, and Santhal rebellions for their sacrifices and martyrdom. In a social media post, the President said that they waged a historic struggle against the exploitation of tribal society and to protect their identity. She added that their valour, sacrifice, and martyrdom will continue to inspire all fellow citizens of the country.

 

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has paid tributes to the heroes of the Santhal Hul on the occasion of Hul Day. In a social media post, Mr Birla remembered the immortal martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice for India’s independence, tribal identity and social justice. He also paid homage to thousands of brave tribal men and women who, under the leadership of Sidho and Kanhu, launched the historic Santhal Hul against colonial rule, exploitation and injustice. Mr Birla said the Santhal Hul was a great people’s movement fought for the protection of water, forests, land, dignity and existence. He said the movement infused new energy into India’s freedom struggle and went on to inspire many other movements. The Lok Sabha Speaker said the valour, sacrifice and patriotism of the immortal martyrs will continue to inspire generations to come.

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has paid tributes to the martyrs of the Santhal Revolution on the occasion of Hul Divas. The Home Minister also remembered all those who sacrificed everything for tribal identity and the motherland. In a social media post, Mr Shah said that the great tribal heroes of the freedom struggle, Sido-Kanhu Murmu, Chand-Bhairav and the brave women Phulo-Jhano, ignited a powerful resistance against British rule, awakening the spirit of freedom and resistance against oppression across the country.
