The Indian Army today welcomed 481 new young officers as the 158th Passing Out Parade was held with grandeur at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
The event marked the successful completion of rigorous military training by the Gentleman Cadets. Displaying exemplary discipline, dedication and military spirit, the young officers marched with precision during the ceremony.

At the historic Chetwode Building of the IMA, a total of 515 Gentleman and Women Cadets crossed the “Antim Pag” and were commissioned as Army officers.
Among them were 34 cadets from friendly foreign countries, who will now join the armed forces of their respective nations after completing their training.
This year’s Passing Out Parade was historic, as nine women cadets passed out alongside gentleman cadets from the Academy for the first time. President Droupadi Murmu reviewed the parade as the Reviewing Officer.
On the occasion, the President said that the Indian Military Academy is a symbol of honour, courage, and service to the nation. Describing the passing out of women cadets as a significant milestone in the history of the Academy, she said it is an inspiring step towards women-led development in the country.
President Murmu urged the officer cadets to remain lifelong learners, take courageous decisions, and demonstrate ethical leadership in the face of evolving security challenges.
During the ceremony, the prestigious Sword of Honour for overall excellence during training was awarded to Officer Cadet Vishal Kumar.
He also secured the first position in the Order of Merit and received the Gold Medal. Prince Raj stood second, while Tejas Bhatt secured the third position and received the Bronze Medal.
