Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana completes one year today

Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana has completed one year today.  The scheme was launched on this day last year to strengthen agriculture in 100 Aspirational Agricultural Districts across the country. Our correspondent reports that the scheme has brought together 36 Central schemes across 11 Ministries and Departments, along with State schemes and private sector participation, to address district-specific agricultural needs.

India’s agriculture sector has significant potential across diverse regions and farming communities. Approved by the Union Cabinet in July last year, the six-year initiative was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 11th October last year. It brings together 36 Central schemes across 11 Ministries and Departments, along with State schemes and private sector participation, to address district-specific agricultural needs. PMDDKY completed its first year, today marking a year of focused district-level action. Across 100 districts, District Action Plans and indicator-based monitoring are now in place. District-specific interventions are supporting agricultural development on the ground.

The scheme aims to improve agricultural productivity, irrigation facilities, access to credit and post-harvest infrastructure. The Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana follows a three-tier implementation structure at the district, state and national levels. District Action Plans are prepared according to local agricultural needs, with progress monitored through one hundred twenty one indicators across 36 Central schemes.

During the first year, all 100 selected districts prepared their action plans, which are under implementation. The average performance score of these districts increased from 18.85 in April 2026 to 46.89 in August 2026, reflecting improvement across all six objectives of the scheme. The initiative has also promoted knowledge-sharing among farmers. The PM-DDKY Farmer Producer Organisations Sangam, held in December 2025, brought together more than 72 Farmer Producer Organisations from 15 States and 33 scheme districts to share experiences and explore opportunities in agricultural productivity, market access and income enhancement. The progress achieved provides a foundation for stronger convergence and sustained agricultural development in the years ahead.
