Union Minister of Power Manohar Lal today said that India seeks to strengthen BRICS cooperation towards building energy systems. Inaugurating 11th meeting of BRICS Energy Ministers in Gurugram, the Minister said that affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy is indispensable for achieving developmental aspirations and the Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Highlighting the investments of India across the entire energy value chain, Mr Lal said that  India is laying the foundation for one of the world’s largest digitally enabled electricity systems. He said that more than 60 million smart meters have already been deployed, and this transformation will continue at scale in the coming years.
