In Kerala, polling began on a vigorous note in Palakkad Assembly constituency, where by-poll is underway. The constituency has nearly 2 lakh voters, where ten candidates are in the fray. Palakkad is facing a triangular contest between three candidates, Rahul Mankoottathil of the  UDF, C Krishnakumar of the NDA and the LDF supported Independent, Dr P Sarin. 184 polling booths have been set up in the constituency, of which seven are considered sensitive. The by-election was necessitated after Congress fielded Shafi Parambil, in the Loksabha election.
