Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) has completed more than 10 years of advancing irrigation-led agricultural transformation through sustainable water management and the expansion of irrigation coverage. Launched on 1 July 2015, PMKSY scheme has assured irrigation, improved on-farm water efficiency, and promoted sustainable water conservation across the country. Over the past decade, it has strengthened irrigation through rainwater harvesting and efficient farm-level water distribution under Jal Sanchay (rainwater storage) and Jal Sinchan (efficient water application). Since 2016-17, the Scheme has benefited over 27 million farmers and created or restored irrigation potential across 24.61 million hectares. Through these efforts, PMKSY is continuously contributing to wider irrigation coverage, enhanced crop productivity, and environmental sustainability.
