PM SVANidhi transforms street vending in Telangana, empowers 4.47 lakh vendors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is completing 25 years in public service, a journey defined by the mantra of Jan Seva Se Desh Seva, and a relentless commitment that continues.

Guided by this vision for Seva and Sushasan, the Government has been ceaselessly working towards achieving the goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Through inclusive development and social empowerment, this dedication is transforming lives.

The PM SVANidhi scheme has transformed street vending in Telangana into a driver of formal economic growth and financial inclusion. Launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and extended through March 2030, the initiative offers collateral-free credit in structured tranches of ₹10,000, ₹20,000, and ₹50,000.

Implemented locally through Urban Local Bodies and the State Level Bankers’ Committee, Telangana consistently ranks among India’s top performers. The state has disbursed over ₹1,240 crore, reaching approximately 4.47 lakh vendors. Notably, women represent nearly 65% of local recipients, surpassing the national average.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the scheme for lifting vendor household incomes by over 20% while integrating millions into the formal banking system.

Ramesh, a Karimnagar vegetable vendor, expanded his micro-business to ₹1,00,000 in daily stock using progressive PM SVANidhi loans.

With the introduction of UPI-linked RuPay SVANidhi credit cards for flexible, interest-free capital, the program continues to replace informal debt cycles with financial dignity and sustainable growth.
