PM Modi’s Indonesia visit to open new avenues for India-Indonesia cooperation: Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty

India’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty, has said that India and Indonesia are poised to elevate their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit expected to pave the way for a series of agreements covering defence, trade, energy, food security, education and healthcare.

Speaking to a private news channel, Mr Chakravorty said the visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, reinforce maritime and economic ties, and deepen collaboration in emerging sectors. He said India-Indonesia relations are on an upward trajectory and that the Prime Minister’s visit will further reinforce this positive momentum.

The Ambassador said both countries are expected to announce cooperation initiatives across five key sectors: defence and maritime security, trade and investment, food security and fertiliser cooperation, energy security and critical minerals, and education and healthcare.

Highlighting the close ties between the two countries, Mr Chakravorty said India and Indonesia are strategic partners with close geographical proximity. He noted that India’s Nicobar Islands are just 160 kilometres from Indonesia’s Aceh province, underlining the strategic importance of their maritime partnership in the Indo-Pacific.
